Dr. Joan Fitzpatrick, Psy.D., MSW
Co-Owner
I have enjoyed more than twenty years working as a therapist. I have extensive experience in working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families. I work with people managing issues in their lives including depression, anxiety, life transitions, learning challenges, and grief work. I have a specialized focus on working with individuals and couples facing fertility challenges. My training has included time spent at clinical outpatient drug and alcohol treatment centers, the Veterans Administration Medical Center, inpatient hospital units, nursing care facilities, rehabilitation hospitals, and outpatient community mental health centers.
I feel that therapy is a client-based process, developed with a supportive and encouraging focus on the individual’s well-being and psychological healing. I believe in the value of true learning and of understanding the path that moves you towards therapy and establishing the personal goals you hope to achieve. I believe in homework, and carrying valuable parts of therapy into daily life. It is important to consider that therapy can be challenging work, and part of this work is to learn to experience and acknowledge personal thoughts, emotions, and experiences in a different way.
It is a brave step to begin therapy; let it be a thoughtful and careful step that you take for yourself. Please contact me at jfitzpatrick@anchorpsych.com or call 610-717-5299 if you would like to begin.
